Exhibitions
The exhibitions which is
presented by National Gallery of Indonesia, generally, feature visual art
forms, such as paintings, sculptures, carvings, graphics, designs, ceramics,
photography, architecture, art installations, new media works and others from
Indonesia and foreign countries.
The holding of exhibitions by the
national gallery of Indonesia entails by the following.
a. Permanent
Exhibitions
Presenting
various elements of the gallery’s collection of works by Indonesian and foreign
artists on the basic of specific curatorial considerations periodically, every
two years, on rotating basis.
Since 2007, the material
in the collection exhibitions have been based on the following three curatorial
concepts, chronological positioning in Indonesian art history, theme such abstract
of environment, and foreign works.
b. Temporary
Exhibitions
Presenting solo
or join exhibitions, according to program and or selection by curatorial group
for setting period, starting from 7 days to 1 month.
These exhibitions
are carried out by national gallery of Indonesia its self or cooperation to
private gallery or related institutions.
In exhibition no
less than 24 displays per year of frequency, including solo, join, and
travelling.
Art performances and presentation
The national gallery of Indonesia
defines the art performances as art presentations performed by individuals or
clubs and packaged in combination with other art disciplines, such as film and
theater.
The activities are meant to
response the emergence of alternative art forms that require among art
disciplines.
Furthermore, to educate people is
the essential appreciation of public not only art-works but also the creative process.
Seminars, discussion, and workshop.
In generally, the seminars, discussions,
and artist forums are held separately or on connected-event. The speakers and
topic would be decided according to the phenomenon, issues and discourses.
Cooperation to the government or private sector
This activities are undertake in
order to enhance the relationship between the national gallery of Indonesia to
the other institutions both national and international, particularly, to
develop information and knowledge about visual art of development.
Research, development and public service
The research and development
activities are defined as an effort to explore and manage the various aspect of
the art work. The result s are utilized to complete the existing data and
information of the collection of national gallery of Indonesia.
The public service activity is
focused to escalate art appreciation in people and transfer or providing art
work information of the collection.
These activities include
provision of guidance, consultation and public relation to general public,
particularly students and visitors.
